Thank you Tom, moving it up, I didn't know you could add more than one picture and yes that is a chain (appears to be brass) on the screw top, also has number 38 on the inside of the top.

Linda Long, please read the 2 posts below yours. Would suggest you post above.  Click + Add Discussion.

You need more pics. Show holes, ends, etc. Is that a chain on the end?

Hi, I'm a newbie so I might not be doing this right. I found this at the thrift store and think it may be an umbrella holder but, I'm not sure. It is 12 1/4 inches long, seems to be Bakelite and has 4 rows of 5 holes along it.

Tom, you make a good point about posting in this group. The posts made above in the discussion forum get archived and are easily found by others. As Tom said, eventually what is posted  on this comment wall (the bottom section of every group)  eventually works it's way down to the bottom of the page and poof, its not as visable unless you go digging.

Patrianne, Posting on the Wall is not advised as your post will go over the cliff soon.  Best to list it as a Post above.  Click:  "+ Add a Discussion".

Wish I could help a fellow Oregonian but all I can add is they look like earthenware  bowls, and they're thousands of them. See Link. https://www.google.com/search?q=Scottish+bowls+ironstone+bowls&...

Welcome to IAO.

Can anyone tell me what these are? Scotch bowls? How old? One of them says MVM or MPM "special" on the bottom .

If you are thinking of selling your book - condition is very important.  I have sold a wide variety of items and book collectors are the pickest buyers.

Comment by Margo Giroux on June 6, 2014 at 10:43pm

Check prices on Amazon as well if value is important. Abes prices tend to be high.
