Found this at a yard sale for $2 elderly gentleman didn't know what it was used for. It measures 22 1/4" X 22 1/4". I noticed the nursery rhymes, it's made of light weight wood.

Strange.... It reminds me of a toy box lid, from the 1950's or 60's. Either that, or possibly the lid to a box that would have held building blocks, or similar toys or a set of particular toys. 

I can't see it being used as a blackboard, as there is no empty space. It's definitely missing another part or piece though. Sorry I couldn't be of much help.
