Not sure what this is. No airholes on the top, but it looks like there's little loops on the side where a small chain or string could go through. Lid comes off. It's got some weight to it

How about a spice jar that is missing the handle and the finial?

Thuribles need at least three chains to balance the weight so they do not tip...let alone the fact that there are no air holes.  It could possibly be a coal boat that holds the hot coals placed in the censer, or it could even be an incense burner that extinguishes itself when the lid is put in place?

A censer or thurible needs holes for oxygen and also for smoke. I think what you have is an antique bed warmer or foot warmer for a carriage. There are many similar in the link.
