I Antique Online

A Community For People Who Buy, Sell or Collect Antiques, Collectibles and Art

I acquired this today.  It has a wonderful patina, but that's about all I know about it.  Any info would be helpful.  *There are some old pieces of newspaper clued to the interior.  I believe they are from Ecuador and date to 1939.

Looks home-made to me. Nice patina. Screws are countersunk typically for wood, not metal, which  indicates home-made. Nice carving.  May have been a blanket chest or "Hope" chest.

Spanish with Moorish influences. Could be 18the c. or earlier but as Tom indicated, replaced hardware.

India also comes to mind.

Moorish influence certainly came to my mind as well.
