I was under the impression that these were shoe stretchers but someone made a comment to me that there was no way of adjusting these, and that perhaps they are a pair of shoe trees.

They measure approximately 12" x 6".

Anyone care to post their opinion of what these are ?

Those are very interesting! Could they possibly be shoe hangers? Insert the pointed portion into the toe part of shoe, hang it over the closet rod, then put the smaller part into the heel part of the shoe.
When you find out what they are, please let us know!

I never heard of shoe hangers, but anything is possible.

Although they are not adjustable stretchers, I think that they may well be shoe trees.  Shoe trees come in many variations, including some that seem to be made for specific (expensive?) shoes.  If you google         vintage shoe trees        you will come up with many variations.    Etsy shows some, including this one: https://www.etsy.com/listing/449206486/shoe-cobbler-50s?ref=market   and this one: https://www.etsy.com/listing/481195644/set-of-2-unique-primitive-an...; and this one  https://www.etsy.com/listing/260130007/metal-shoe-stretchers-from-a...
