Doing a Ebay search I've seen similar ones that have markings indicating that they were made in Japan. This one, however, shows no such markings.

Does anyone know the time period/location where this was made ?

most of the lighters in this particular woodgrain and style that i've come across online state 1970's but nothing much about them beyond the name of the product.Seems silly to me that in this day and age given the company still exists, they don't have a website with more information about their products.

IF it was purchased in Japan it wouldn't need to be stamped MIJ. Some serviceman probably brought it home.

This is an interesting post, however since they are still being made and sold it is not an antique or vintage, but probably is "collectable".
