Hi all, we have a 19th c portrait of a Palm Beach tycoon, William Powell, by Homer Henderson, c. 1891. Frame is Italian and museum quality. Henderson did portraits of TDR, supreme Ct justices and a Sioux chief in the 19th c. yet I cannot find much on him. Any ideas? I think this is something special. Thanks!

From what I can find, it seems he was an Ohio artist, working in and around Columbus. He was born c.1840 and died possibly in 1915.

Cool, thanks. Not much of a bio for one who painted the potus.

He is also mentioned here quite a bit as being involved with the decoration committee in Columbus at the state capitol building (p. 225 in the book, p. 296 on the scroll bar).

Here is the Chief!  They have similar features.

And how!

There's this one, likely his most important work.
