I was recently in an antique shop just outside of Chicago when I found this beautiful inkwell and blotter set. They were on sale, which made them even better! The bottom of them say "Made in France for Saks Fifth av." and I have been combing the web looking for more information about them and nothing. I would love to know when they were made (I am assuming not any time recently) and how much they originally sold for. I've sent them an e-mail in hopes that they might respond with some answers, but I'm not holding my breath. I'm wondering if anyone has some insight on these items or knows of some resources that might be helpful!
Found this on Worthpoint. It's not exactly the same, but similar with a similar mark on the bottom. Just the inkwell, no blotter. It sold in 2014 for $195.00.
Another one currently on eBay also had "Carlin Comforts" on the bottom and the seller indicated these were made in France in the 1930's, exclusively for Saks.
Great! Thank you so much!
Great set, 20th century, maybe 1920s between the wars.
