Hi, I am looking for information on this military button with regards to the value it may hold...

Through research I have found that these buttons were made for certain officers in the Queensland Navy, dated 1830...

The letters on the button are HMQN....which apparently stand for HER MAJESTY'S QUEENSLAND NAVY even though there was never officially a Queensland Navy...

A bit confusing so I am looking to find if anyone does know about this and what value it may have...

Thanks for any input...

I found this website online, though I cannot vouch for any of its accuracy as I am not very knowledgeable in military items.

Thank you Michael, I have been directed to this website before but there was not as much information then as there is now...

It does enlighten me a lot more as far as the dates go...and also that these buttons were specific to the uniform of a Chief Petty Officer...This button is exactly the same as the one I have with the laurel around the outer rim...
