Found this really cool poster in frame at my grandma's, does anyone know what it is?
According to this website, it is a a poster of a 1921 window display, the original of which is worth several thousands of dollars to collector's today, the website does not go on to say what a poster of the period would be worth.
Thank you Michael; I'd looked thru hundreds of photos on Google images looking for this specific poster and didn't find it. I had not gone to the website you've shown but did so just now. Because the framed poster shown here is not dated I'd suspect that it would be difficult to know for sure whether a specific poster is an original from 1921 or whether it is a later reproduction. I personally have collected a variety of antiques over many years and have little knowledge concerning advertising posters but to me I wouldn't want to pay perhaps $2,000 for an original print from 1921 opposed to maybe $40 for a printed copy that was made in 1961. I could see paying $2,000 or more for an original hand painted poster from that era which had been signed and which could be accurately dated. Obviously if this specific framed poster had been printed after the original 1921 posters were first made a "run" of perhaps 3,000 of these later posters might have been printed at the time which would obviously devalue the current selling price. If anything I'd likely want to have a later print of this poster simply because it wouldn't have been subject to fading and discoloration. That's what makes collecting antiques an interesting hobby; it's surprising what values a single antique has to different collectors.
