Wondering if it's correct to say this item is carnival glass?
I've done a little bit of research, but I want to find out more and make sure I have correct info.
I bought it from an older woman who said glass like this was very popular when she was growing up.
1970's Westmoreland I think is the maker. This is not carnival glass - this is Forrest green. Take a look under Glass Hound Heaven to see actual Carnival glass pieces. There are both old and new that fall under the name "carnival".
did she grow up in the 1960-70's?
These were reproduced by Indiana Glass in the 1970's heavley in many colors, I remember when we stopped at the factory showroom/outlet center.
My guess is the woman who sold it to me is in her late early to mid-70s. I don't know when she bought it.
She just remembers this type of glass being very popular when she was younger.
It's also interesting 'cos I went the Indiana Glass website. They have a picture similar to mine and yet (if I read it correctly) they call it carnival glass.
It gets very confusing.
At one time I tried to educate myself on depression glass, but after awhile my head just spins.
