Hi all,

Cleaning out the wifes grandparents and I came across this piece. He is a little figure about 6 inches high made out of bone or ivory. Any ideas what he is and where he came from.

Many thanks,

Jacob Lee

Descriptions are rather vague:  Chinese carved bone 1950 statue,

Chinese bone and veneer figurines, Japanese gardener figure bovine/animal bone?  ???

Because of the base of the figurine, I think that is neither bone nor ivory, but resin (plastic). You can find tests online to determine for sure what it is made of.

I can totally see that.  But I wonder what the person, in their particular position, represents?
