About Memphis Attic
http://iantiqueonline.ning.com/profile/Dawn23

Concept and title of group created by Dawn.

I have a passion for collecting which includes but not limited to: all kinds of pop culture items, salt & pepper shakers, old cookie jars, old shabby painted items, old advertising tin signs, vintage Black Americana, pottery bowls, retro kitchen items, old display cabinets, cricket benches, antique furniture, Adirondack items and the list goes on and on. I am a total addict!! Somebody help me!! I've been collecting about 15 years and don't have room for it all. I frequent yard sales, estate sales, flea markets and I do buy and sell on Ebay.

Yes, it's interesting to do the research on items. I try and learn as much as I can. That's why I love the internet! When I find something I like, the first thing I always do is look for a maker's mark. There is so much to learn. It's a never ending process! But this is what I learned. If I see something I really like but don't know if I should get it or not. I think to myself if I never come across the piece again will I kick myself for not getting it. If I answer yes to myself I end up buying it. Is there a name for this disease? lol

YOU SOUND LIKE ME! I too collect things, but I do what I call "educated, informed, and structured collecting."

My passion is centered around researching to find out the facts behind an item that would guarantee that it will have a high to higher value than just something old that I may find.
When you use my approach to antique shopping, will find yourself examining the item for certain features, indicators or marks that makes the item take on an instant appeal do to their place in history or importance to a certain period.

We are proud to know you have been bitten by the bug!

I need more old storage cabinets to display all these. I have a ton of black americana s&p shakers and figurines etc.

I resized some of my pics and re-adding them as I had a complaint my pics were too big and taking to long to download. So here it goes..

Re-painted vintage McCoy mammy cookie jar. There are a ton of reproductions made of this in all colors. They even have the crackling on them so beware.

Some of my black memorabilia.

"Lil' Eightball" cartoon character made by Walter Lantz productions in the 1950's.

yes these kitchen towels usually sell for $20 to $30 on ebay! They are cute! I have a few in my kitchen.

There are a lot of kitchen textiles available in the Black Americana category, and they usually sell well on eBay.
