I Antique Online

A Community For People Who Buy, Sell or Collect Antiques, Collectibles and Art

We have all seen them at Flea markets and at the Beaches or on a mommies back with a newborn in her arms...perfect for a weekend getaway or storing your knitting supplies for that sweater your knitting for grandpa...they can be small or large with hankie pockets or adorned with vintage buttons, crochet laces ...made from vintage tablecloths, barkcloth, ticking and even new fabrics mixed in...however they are made... they are practical and charming. A great way to be green...even if its with envy :-)
Please post pictures of your fabric bags that you made or purchased using vintage barkcloth et al fabric. Here are a few of mine

This tote was made by Elizabeth Holcombe. You can see more of her lovely barkcloth bags in "Hot Cottage Collectibles for Vintage Style Homes".....Pam, who started this " thread" (no pun intended.) has so many of her lovely collectibles and vintage handcrafted items also in the book.

Here's mine, made by Anita, who sells on eBay as madeintahoe. I love this bag and it gets MOBS of comments every time I carry it. I love the way she used old jeans for the pocket, added old lace and and old button, and even patched the jeans just below the pocket with bits of the barkcloth.
