Diane McQ, I have a Bud Hastins Avon collectibles book and the bracelet is not shown in it. My wife was an Avon Lady during the 1970s-80s too. Most Avon items, bottles, jewelry, etc is marked "Avon". My bracelet is not marked. You could be right-thanks for your input. The flower bracelet is molded; the bangle is carved.

I finally got a tube of Simi-Chrome polish to test my Bakelite. I have some pieces that pass the hot water test with flying colors as to being Bakelite (the strong formaldehyde odor) but when Simi-Chrome is applied the cotton swab does not turn yellow. Am I using the polish incorrectly or is there something else that creates the formaldehyde odor and my items aren't even Bakelite?

This site is Googled by using semi but the product is simichrome.

There is no way to look at a picture of a piece of jewelry and say it is or isn't Bakelite. I have a necklace that passes the hot water test but I still don't think it is Bakelite.

I have some black pieces on my site. I would like someone check out. Black is hard to test and I could be mistaken about them being bakelite. But they do have other bakelite qualities. Find them here under Bakelite category at www.glamournglitz.com Thanks for any assistance. Mary

Howabout this, is it bakellite (yes): The bracelet has 2 elastic bands inside which allow it to expand for easy off/on.
