Vintage 1930's Cotton Swallows Nest Quilt!

Beautiful colors of yellow, gold, green, blue, pink, lavender, and aqua, are on a rose pink colored background. There are cotton feedsacks, prints, and solid colored fabrics, from the 1930's. The back and binding, is covered with a lovely print. The binding is hand sewn, and the hand quilting is done in a swirled pattern, about 6-7 stitches psi. This beautiful quilt measures 92" long x 60" wide.
Each patterned block is 8 1/4" across x 8 1/4" high. It is a medium weight quilt. There are quilter's pencil marks, and the quilt feels crisp and clean, so I do not think it was ever used. This beautiful quilt would complement any romantic, cottage style, country, or eclectic decor.
It's a great piece of textile history! Oh, the stories it could tell!

Sharon...I think everyone is goofing off! LOL You can still use your quilts on your bed, just turn them down at night if they're too warm! LOL I switch my bedspreads, and quilts out, each bed linen change.
Right now we have our Fieldcrest camp style '50's bedspread on our bed, and before that was the white damask, and before that was one of our vintage chenille bedspreads. The last quilt was a few bedspreads ago! LOL
Take a look at my latest blog on my page! Everyone...have a great vacation, or enjoy your lazy time if you're just 'kicking back'!
Sharon...we'll get this group going again! I'll post a quilt for you to look at soon! :O)

OK, I know it's too warm in the summer to actually use your quilts, but can't we still discuss them? Or is everyone on vacation?

Welcome to our newest members...Randi, Shabby Lane, Footbridge Cove Collectibles, CoBoy Mary, Sandysfancy, Craig, and Sande! If I've missed anyone please let me know!
I've been more off line than on, lately, with everything being so hectic...my job wearing me out, pets at the vet, etc. so I sure hope things settle down a bit! I want to finish my quilt repair and show you some pics soon.
In the meantime I hope you all keep on posting. I enjoy looking at quilts...they are 'eye candy'! :O)

I am a traditional quilter. I hand quilt on a pair of 100 year old frames. I have been quilting for around 20years. There was some time in there when I couldn't afford material so I didn't quilt and other times when I was working so much I didn't have time. I like to buy vintage material to use in quilts and I also buy vintage tops to finish. I am always looking for older patterns to do. I do a frequent search on Ebay for vintage quilt tops but I don't buy them usually. I print out a picture so I can replicate the patterns. We sell some vintage linens in an Antique Mall we are set up in. I also collect some vintage embroidery.
