Meet Your Moderator Bev Hamel Of Antiques in Bethania

I was born a paper junkie and this was my very first collection - my father had a shop in Lahaska Pa for many years offering paper collectibles - so the trait was inherited. This stuff literally oozes out of every space imaginable in my office area - I cant bear to part with it or sell it!

I have a large amount of Victorian era ephemera, advertising, magazines, prints, lithographs, antique cigar labels acquired through the estate sales company I work for. I don't know much about them except that it's hard to find interested parties. It's a niche market. I will say one thing and that slowly and surely I am finding them harder to sell because I want To KEEP some if it, especially the magazine covers( Ladies Home, Metropolitan-there are 10 or so) that I took the time to find out the artist's name and other works. In some of the magazines they offered artwork( like the Tribune used to do ) and some of it is just STUNNING. I have listed some on GoAntiques and I have put the word out that I have A LOT of it. There is a 1913 Home Journal with a girl and a guy playing guitar for her, and that LOOK in her eye( I think it's Christy ) Wow! And a 1910 Housekeeper and the woman on that cover, it's illustration at it's best. I would love to list all of it, there are so many pieces, it's unbelievable! I have some many other things that I sell ( high end glass, furniture, primitives) that is priority.
If I had the time I would make a website just for the prints and mag. cover and the ad art. I am still thinking of getting my old tent out( I used to sell my prints at photography shows) and I might go that route or a flea market. I think these items might do well in that market also, someone would see them and say" I Gotta Have That!"
