When I started taking care of The Martin Building I was surprised by the volume of stuff that had accumulated over the years. A lot of it was useless, but pretty so I didn’t throw it away. Instead I started storing it in boxes down in the basement. Then one rainy afternoon my son and I got a glue gun and a board and we started making the thing that hangs over the front door. Over the years we’ve made a lot of these “things” and we’ve got them on display in the halls. Some people call this art. I think of it as creative building management.
The boxes have migrated from the basement and there’s a shelf system of containers in the north hall where anyone can donate their stuff. When cleaning out your junk drawer, toolkit, desk or trunk, chances are you’ll find odd things that would make a nice addition to one of our projects. If you have any questions, please drop by number fourteen.
