Another true story!

I knew of a slough just behind a sand bar accessible by boat only. Late Fall, I went duck hunting there.  I approached by boat and glided in, jumped out, ran across the sand bar and discovered the slough was ice-covered-no ducks.  The ice was very clear, and strong, and I ventured out.  I saw a black-tailed bass come up and look at me and I swung the 12 gauge over and shot him!  To scare it, that is...

Little did I expect that the shot would make a hole in the ice, but it did and with every action (physics) there is a reaction and the water swooshed up through the hole and landed the bass at my feet.  It was only 6 inches long.  The ice had magnified it.

I suspect that there isn't another person who caught a bass by shooting it with a shotgun...but who knows.

Oralei, it was mid-summer when I went fishing. Around 1959-61.

I also came face to face with a mountain lion on that river, but got away.  And....my tent was torn apart by a bear, twice.  But the fishin was good.

How about a REAL, HONEST, TRUTHFUL, fish story?

I was fishing the Little North Fork of the Coeur d'Alene River in North Idaho.  I was using spinning gear, hooks, worms, etc.  I had bought a clear plastic bobber that the fish couldn't see.  To it I attached a 4 foot leader and a dry fly to it.  This set-up allowed me to fly fish using spinning tackle!

Shortly after casting a nice trout hit my fly; I set the hook and it snapped the line just above the float...I watched the float, leader, fly and trout swim down the shallow river.  I chased after it and eventually was able to retrieve it, the leader, the fly and the trout.  For some unknown reason I unhooked the trout and let it go.  I  never tried fly fishing with spinning gear.

Or you can buy my HUGE FISHING LURE!  Almost 3 times as big, at 18-1/2 inches.

I think it's called a Bass Popper, not sure.  Never seen a bass big enough for this lure!

Truthfully, I think it's an advertising gimmick for a Fishing Tackle store. It has 2 eyehooks on top. They would hook into a eyehook on the wall or ceiling. Eyehooks not included.

The basic lure is wood; several pieces were glued and pressed together and then shaped and painted numerous times.  The professionally applied paint  looks just like the smaller flatfish and bobbers, however there are several areas that are chipped. The large, clear Lucite lip or guide is glued in; it measures 5-1/2 inches long and is 1/4 inch thick.  The eyehook for line is a u-bolt with 4 hex nuts.  All metal, except for 3 key rings, are non magnetic (not steel). The hooks are not magnetic (no rust), sharp with barbs and plastic protectors.

If interested send me an e-mail; my em address is on my Members page, just above the big red marble.  Make offer.
