Toronto is a great city for finding a treasure! With our large ethnic population, interesting objects from every country in the world can be discovered.  Anything from English pottery, Italian Capodimonte, Russian enamel silver, Chinese porcelain, etc. can be found.  There are many antique shops, auctions and shows in and around our city.  I will introduce you to the various neighborhoods known for antiques.  Keep checking in!

Hi! I'm working on a new show; created by the Producers of the hit TV shows “Canadian Pickers” and “American Pickers".  This new show, will be a competition TV show, as several teams will set out in pursuit of the BEST PICK, ultimately earning the title of Top Collector!

We are currently casting for amateur Canadian "Picking Partners"- two people that pick together anywhere from auctions, to flea markets, to barns to dumpsters (etc.)! We are looking for people that are charismatic, knowledgeable about collecting, know how to spot hidden treasures, and flip items for profit.  Pickers who specialize in collecting items such as sports memorabilia, vintage toys, oil and gas memorabilia, pop culture items, cast iron, TV & movie memorabilia, and other interesting and unique items!

If there is anyone you think might be interested in entering the competition and being a part of this show, we would love to hear from them!

For more information or to APPLY to be on the show, please email

I will continue to look for Chatty Cathy dolls and keep you informed.  I'm sure we will come up with some for your collection.

I will add your Green Spot Antiques to my website.  It makes sense that you were the first one - Canadians have always been more into recycling and environmental issues.  This is a message that is becoming more and more important and I will certainly pass the word.  Thank you for bringing this to my attention.  And welcome to this group.

Hi,I'm so glad  your website reads " Go Green -REcycling Antiques". Nice to see this catching on.

While I read 'Antiques are Green was launched by Nigel Worboys in September 2009-“ The first website to promote the green credentials of antiques”, I am a little puzzled.

I've run Green Spot Antiques since 2005, in Cambridge, Ontario. Our byline has been "Antiques Recyclers", since 2005.

Either way, a pleasure to see the Toronto Market, where some of our favourite customers hail from, catching onto the "green wave" with respect to Antiques.

If you are ever out Cambridge way.. do drop in... or head on over  to for a preview of an antiques/recycler/salvaging operation in full swing.

I promise the pricing makes the trip worthwile.

Wish I could go to the show, sounds like so much fun! But I live in California in the Sierria Neveda Mountains, way far away! Is it really cold and snowy up there now, and they still have these antique shows? Are they outside?

Thanks everyone for looking for Canadian Chattys for me. The one in the ad is a Charmin Chatty, not a Chatty  Cathy. I would love for anyone to find some for me, as long as they are the real Canadian ones. They are different than the American ones, they don't have decal eyes and hard heads. They have soft heads, pinwheel or glassine eyes. I would buy them in any condition, since some I have need new bodys or others for doll parts. I don't care if the they speak or not. I have a large collection of them and 4 that speak French!

By the way, if anyone would like me to look out for anything in particular while I am "antiquing" here in Toronto, please feel free to ask me.  I will be very happy to add your wants to my own list.
