In reply to the question below from 'Antiques in Bethania' ....about my clay pipe.  You may be exactly correct that it could be earlier.  I got this and another at an estate auction....and both have sold, that is the reason I removed the comment so soon.   Maybe I sold too cheap but that's ok.  Thank you for the information on the pipe though...never realized that it would have been a communal piece that was shared.

Deanna - I believe your pipe is earlier, reason being is that this would have been a communal pipe. Men would carry a separate insert and share the smoke. Also the way it is made - can I ask where you got it?

For Lillian - most of these were "Made In Japan" in the 40's and 50's. They are cute and collectible, but I was only able to get $40 for the dog one I had - and it wasn't broken. So, I think ebay might be a good start. Then just goggle "Vintage Cigarette box". You should find lots of examples.

Wooden case with bird cigarette grabber and cigarette roller. The bird doesn't grab the cigarettes - it has a busted beak. The roller has some rust on the bottom. How much should the price tag say on these items?

Is there anyone looking for old magazine pages with tobacco adverts

No, it was Virginia Slims.

Was it Marlboro?

Trivia time - when cigarette advertising was banned from TV in 1971, what was the brand of cigarette that was the last one to be aired?

I don't have these ads, but they are available here and there on the Internet.
