I Antique Online

A Community For People Who Buy, Sell or Collect Antiques, Collectibles and Art

Good day, Boys and Girls. This subject has probably been discussed in the glassware forums, but I wanted to pay particular attention to the Kitsch factor in decorated glassware. I am fond of, to put it mildly, of joyfully screen printed glassware from the 40s, 50s, 60s. I have in my collection probably close to 100 sets of decorated tumblers. I guess "fond" is more like "obsessed". I'm not talking about the standard floral prints that are so common, but really funny, sometimes tasteless (yes, glassware can be tasteless) and often very clever designs made up by those kooky graphic designers back in the day.

I'm including several photos of some of my treasured sets that I'm loath to put up for sale on the website because I want to keep them. This attitude does NOT pay the bills. I would love to see what others have as well.

These are just a few of the examples......

The Bathing Beauties....ohh la la!

Dances of the Day

Square Dancers

Pond Lilies

Purple and Gold Fish

Look for more very soon!
