I agree with the social media issue. It has become such a big thing that people will read the social media places more than they do the papers...that was a report I had read through 1 of my newsletters I get.

I agree with blogspot.com being a big help. I have had my business name show in a google search due to my blogspot, and I have had customers contact me because they found me through my blog, and from there could use my clickable buttons to go onto the selling venues I am at.

I am no expert with blogging, and still have much more to learn. Learning as I go. I found that sometimes adding something a little more personal as like a thought to an issue, an item, etc people react with that too.

Great forum topic, and plenty of application to antique reselling and related businesses.

I love blogspot and it does help and takes time to add ti it. I try to do a blog a week, but life sort of gets in their. It is a great tool for your business, and there is so much more to explore!

Hello fellow antiquers...Just thought I would share my own experience with social media.
I've had a brick & mortar store for about 15 years and import from France. Country French is my specialty, but needless to say, it is a real niche market. It has been challanging at times to continually build a customer base.
I've tried it all, ebay, direct-mail, advertising in local decor magazines, yellow page ads and newspapers, with only disappointing results when compared to the cost.
Several years ago, I decided to start blogging in an effort to promote my shop.
I really had no expectations, but thought sharing my antiquing experience couldn't hurt.
That was one of the best decisions I've made and the best part is, it's free!
An investment of your time, but well worth the effort. If your looking to increase your customer base, I would highly recommend it.
I use Goggle's Blogspot which only requires basic computer skills. I also use Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare, and a few other networking sites, but in my case, none compare to blogging.
You should give it a try, if you haven't already.
I'm no blog expert, by any means, my blog is a trial and error, but feel free to contact me and if I can assist, I would be happy to do so.
Just wanted to share my experience and if you have a minute, stop by my blog,
Country French Antiques
