This original 1969 celluloid pin...WOODSTOCK PEACE AND LOVE...is from the days of the historic Woodstock Music and Art Fair in White Lake / Bethel N.Y., held the weekend of August 15-17, 1969...40 years ago. Billed as '3 Days of Peace and Music', the festival was a gathering place for people against the Vietnam war and generally FOR sex, drugs and rock 'n roll. Some of rock's greatest performers and bands appeared...Arlo Guthrie, Joan Baez, Santana, Grateful Dead, Creedence Clearwater, Janis Joplin, The Who, Jefferson Airplane and Jimi Hendrix are just some. We don't know for a fact that this pin was ACTUALLY there, pinned to a tie-dyed shirt but we can guarantee that this pin is from 1969 and authentic. No markings. It measures 1 3/4 inches and is in excellent condition. Forty years later and 'peace and love' is STILL a good message.

I was a little young for attending, but certainly remember my parent's shock at the hippies!

I was up in The Catskills at the time of Woodstock but not at the concert.....I was working for a country doctor (I was only a teen) and injured Woodstock participants did find their way to our office. One person needed his scalp sutured...and i was a bit queasy about the whole thing...so I hid in the secretarial area while the doc was suturing his Woodstock patient's scalp. That is about as close to Woodstock as I got! Dianne
