My goodness Carol Anne, it's wonderful to see you !

I really like stumble upon, it is non invasive, otherwise you don't get emails all the time asking you to do this and that :-)

I just stumble my items that I know might be interesting to someone..don't forget the important keyword, vintage...because someone looking for vintage will find you there, and follow you...you follow them back and it's like everything else, eventually someone finds what they like and buy it from you, and vice versa...I also enjoy stumble upon for other things such as people's opinions etc...

The next shop talk will talk about the new changes to google as far as vintage clothing.

Ruby Lane will revamp that category so everything will be google search friendly...more about that in the talk :-)

I also have videos created this past summer named RC Antiques Vintage News Updates ( posted here on the home page and my page  )....those videos will talk about things shoppers and sellers need to know and it also reveals FaceBook pages , asking for links and ning sites such as this one, which is the biggest of them all..so, you might want to check those out as they really are helpful.

I will say, that the ning and social sites do appear to have more SEO than ever... so, it is most important to keep active on this site and sites like it because it does show up in the search engine. You are my first response, so, big hugs to you.

I took a little break and just played on the Kaboodle site creating style boards for fun...but, time to get back on the wagon and make some money :-) so I can go shopping, YAY

If you know any RL shop owner that has not joined this site and this group yet, please encourage them to join so we can all keep positive and up to date on what's happening.

Everyone's input and opinions are needed to help me know what to talk about when I do the videos etc :-)

Best wishes and many thanks, Linda

Hi Linda:  I watched your recent video which is very helpful.  I joined StumbleUpon based on your suggestion.  Now I just have to figure out how to use it.  LOL.  What other videos do you have planned?  I always look forward to learning something new!

Yes I totally agree with you and I'm surprised that they are now permitted to take a percentage of our shipping rec'd from customers.   By the time you finish paying them and Paypal, there is not much left over.

Well thanks to both of you and very nicely put Dena.

Dena Well put! Unlike selling on ebay I am confident that my clients trust the Ruby Lane and me. They know that I am a professional and stand behind my merchandise. I have to say that I still buy alot on ebay but sell there... I don't think so. SAVE one large bag of odd lot bits and pieces of jewelry I can't do on Ruby Lane. A great lot of stuff but not for RL.  BTW those free listing days ... I remember those on ebay 10 years ago, then they seemed to decide they didn't need to keep their clients (the sellers) happy. And they wanted to rake in the $$$ we made them. OH I could go on!

Great advice Bonnie!

Michelle another advantage to Ruby Lane is they do not set your shipping options, you do, and you have an option of flat fee for insurance or up to date price automatically given to the buyer plus you can give the buyer an option to not have insurance on their package. They do not charge a commission it is all up front and you pay a flat fee. They have free and reduced listing days through out the year. They are a very reputable site to sell and buy at which has attracted a lot of both to RL. They do advertise in many venues not just the net. They are constantly trying to update things for the Better for both buyers and sellers. They understand that having happy sellers along with buyers is the best way to handle a business. They have tried hard not to raise costs and have actually improved cost to the seller in several ways since I have been there. You can write articles for the blog, two a month, a have a credit of $35 per article put into your shop account which can really save you money.

When I think of Ruby Lane I think of Class. :) Dena

Bonnie,

Thank you for the wonderful help and advise.  I do plan on transitioning soon.  I have roughly 400 listings on ebay so will probably still leave some there and put only my finer items on Ruby Lane.

Thanks again I truly appreciate your taking the time to write.

Best regards,

Michelle

Michelle, I so totally agree with Dena. I was a silver powerseller for years on ebay.. joined in 1997. They drove me nuts changing the store advantages, how MY clients could pay ME, and all the rest of their crap... I said there has top be a better place on the net.  I opened my Ruby Lane shop 4 years ago and just like Dena have never looked back. It does take time to learn how to use everything that RL can offer it's sellers. I would like to give you 3 words of advise.

#1 when you get your shop open take time to look at EVERY link on the sellers page. Thats where everything you will need to be a successful seller is.

#2 their customer service for sellers is great. That link is at the bottom of the sellers page. When I can't figure something out I ask and they help

#3 do it now that $75 is a BIG advantage... it's in your pocket not RL's or Ebays.

My sales have grown every year. This year I have already surpassed last years total and it's August. I work hard at this and am now making $.  If you have questions :-) and you will there are people on the lane that will help you.  Staff members or fellow sellers.
