I Antique Online

A Community For People Who Buy, Sell or Collect Antiques, Collectibles and Art

Received an email from a customer this morning.
"I have antique kitchenware that runs the gamut between butter paddles, whisks, scales, crocks, coffee mils, and so on..they have been displayed on top of my cabinets in the kitchen..so..grease has accumulated on them all..I try and clean them, but they remain sticky to the touch, any idea how to clean them up without taking all the stain or whatever off..thanks for any help you can give me..pj". Any ideas?

The items on top of the cabinets seem to be made of different materials, so they'll each require different care. The metal and ceramic items can be cleaned with a solution of vinegar and warm water, which should cut right through the grease. The wooden items can be cleaned with baking soda, and so can any plastic items. I recommend your customer buy my last book, "Protecting Your Collectible Treasures: Secrets of a Collecting Diva" for recommendations on cleaning almost anything. It's available at my web site http://www.msjudith.net or at amazon.com.
Thanks Judith,
Forwarded your answer and link to your book to the customer.
