Balls are 1 1/2" high and 1 7/8" across (not counting the fur).  Made of leather and fur with a 2" ivory (?) piece attached with a braided string.  Any ideas???

I Have a couple of Native American books around here someplace - I'll try looking for you tonight - I'll let you know if I find anything. I just wonder if they belong with something else?

Thank you.  You have been so helpful to me and I really appreciate it.  I know it is time consuming.  JUDY

Judy, I saw something on PBS that reminded me of these things. The Arctic Indians, Eskimos, and Inuits, didn't wear sun glasses, but they did protect their eyes.  After being out in the snow or ice on a sunny day for four hours or more they would develop sun blindness.  To prevent it they would rest their eyes with fur lined snow goggles.  Babies wore them too.
