Hey, I do all buy sell collect. You name I do it. MCM, Plenty of do's and not much don't. This up and coming year is going to be kinda like anything goes, as long as items are matching style colors ect. Like danish modern still is huge along with Panton and Kartell Eras items. Most folks will not mix and match to much, but it never hurt to toss a few 60's 70's items in to a Danish mix. ORANGE, YELLOW AND RED Huge for the up and coming year along with plastic anything from furniture to dishes. Hellerware and Rosti Mepal will still continue to make it's come back. Rye rugs are completely hot, but only the truely abstract. My top ten do's are 1. go bold with colors. 2. Bold Fabric wall murals, pillows ect... 3. Use only a few pieces of furniture in you living room. 4. Stick with designs that are alike. 5. Go Retro in atleast one room. 6. Orange anything. 7. Throw in Reds, Yellows and Aqua to off set. 8. Have atleast 2 or 3 key sculptures for the wow factor. 9. If you bold keep walls off white so everything stands out. Now for Don't 1. Don't throw just one beige item into a room crammed for of bold, you'll never see it. 2.Mauve and Country Blue no way no how. 3.Ducks, Cows, Angels. 4. No dried flowers. 5.No floral arraingments. 6.Don't color your wall bright colors if you are decorating in bright colors, you'll never see your items. 7.Kitch doesn't go with Danish Modern so stop trying to make it. 8. Actually Kitch is completely out anyway. 9. If you are going 50's do 50's same with 60's and 70's. Each room can be diffrent just don't try to blend to much. 10. Gloth is gone, if you must do Gloth do add some red to it. I am going to be around all night so if anyone wants some pointers just let me know. Cheers, Carin

Hello All,
Is everyone on this group a collector or seller of MCM? If you are a seller which shows do you do, if any?
For example: Modernism, 20thC Design etc.
If no one here does shows..
What about a top 10 list of MCM Design dos and don'ts? Top trend predictions for collecting in 09?

I have a lecture coming up in February in conjunction with a museum tour of Birth of the Cool, what topics would you find interesting?
Cheers! AustinModern

Well she is finally out of surgery. It was a 5 hour 15 min. surgery and they needed to reconstruct her spine with screws, wire and god knows what but at least she will be able to walk again. Now we wait till she recovers and the test results come back from the bio test on the tumor. Hopefully by Thursday or Friday we shall know where to go from here. What a big girl she gave one of them a hug today. Mommy is proud of how she is being so brave right now. Please Pray for us we need all the prayers we can get right now. If anyone out there has been through this please contact me I am alone and very scared just need someone to talk with who has walked this path before.
