What is the difference between Nippon and Noritake? The backstamps are so similar.

This 5" tall vase I thought at first was something religious because of the golden halos, but I think it's depicting some Japanese characters.

As soon as I saw the photo I thought "1950's-60's," so we concur!  Very cute.  Kind of reminds me of America's Shawnee Pottery in form, although not so much in colors.

This planter is about 3.5" tall. The rickshaw is way out of proportion to the man, but these items were meant to be cute, not  accurately scaled. The little man almost has a Playskoolesque look. I'd guess this was made in the late 1950 or early 1960s.

I knew it was after 1921 because she didn't come to the states until then and was living in Depew New York when this was given to her. But no ideas on the mark as to where in Japan it was made?

Hi, Patti,

Your set is neither Noritake nor Nippon, but it was made in Japan after 1921.

Kathy I had been to the gotheborg.com site and looked at EVERY mark on it - not finding this mark there either.
