Collecting flow blue? What was your first piece? Why did it belong in your house?

I'll start this discussion with the story about my first piece of flow blue, which I bought for my mom.  it was a soup bowl in the Roma pattern by Wedgwood.  I used to live in England, visited a great antique store in an old thatched room barn and stared at this beautiful smudgy blue bowl, displayed hanging on the wall for about a year.  One day, I took it off the wall and gave it a good hard look.  it was even prettier up close.  I decided my mom needed a gift and bought it that day.  Ever since, I have collected (and now sell) flow blue.

What was your first piece?

My first pieces of flow blue were four Touraine plates, which I bought in the early 1980's and still have today. That was followed by four Waldorf luncheon plates..and my love of flow blue has just continued on and on to this day:) I have later Victorian pieces, as well as some very nice early dinner plates, soup bowls and platters (Coburg, Scinde, Chapoo, Hong Kong). I love and use my flow blue quite often. Some pieces in my little collection are attached...
