Meet your moderator Marlin Martin. . http://iantiqueonline.ning.com/profile/MarlinMartin I collect a variety of things but ladies head vases have become a real passion of mine. I purchased my first head vase in 1999 and over the years I've added about 750 vases to my collection. I now have several curio cabinets in my home filled to capacity with vintage ladies. I have had the good fortune to have attended the annual head vase convention a couple times and I’ve met several really nice collectors that share my passion for these lovely ladies. In addition to collecting head vases, I also have a small collection of head vase identification and price guides. Some of these books are now out of print and very hard to find.My interest in head vases dates back to the 1960’s. I fondly recall my Father’s older sister, Aunt Nellie, having several of these odd ladies sitting around her front porch. In particular, I remember several vases that I later learned were “Glamour Girls” being filled with dirt and live plants. There were a couple more fragile and detailed vases that she kept in her kitchen and sewing room. They held various items including pencils, feathers, and crochet hooks. She felt these vases were too pretty to be filled with dirt and I could not agree more.

Thanks C. Diane. Recently, I was looking over an online auction, Auction Zip, I have bid and won or lost on there over the years, but they had a head vase, which I looked up and found a statement from someone, online, that NIPPON, never made head vases, which this one in auction was. I wrote the auction and told them what I had read but no reply............
Wow! What lovely planters Bonnie and Lillian. I've never collected these ladies but they are really pretty.
