Antiques in Bethania:        Antiques in Bethania owner Bev Hamel is an expert on Tchotchkes, or all items that do not fit into one particular category because their identification and value are misconstrued by many experts and often called Junk. Bev's experience is more then a half of a century in the antique and collectible industry, a rescuer of items destined for the trash pile, and she is also a recovered corporate executive and former marketing director of Tchotchkes. Bev holds a Master of Fine Art and is the founding mother of Tchotckaholics Anonymous. As a published writer, Bev will document your item's historical context and value so that you may proudly tell the world, "there is no such thing as a piece of crap."

Etymology and spelling

The word Tchotchke is derived from a Slavic word for "toys" (Ukrainianцяцька, tsiats'ka[ˈtsjɑts.kɑ]Polishcacka[ˈtsats.ka]Slovakčačka,[3] [ˈtʃatʃ.ka] chach-kaRussian:цацки, tsatski[ˈt͡sat͡s.ki])—adapted to Yiddish טשאַטשקע, tshatshke, "trinket". A wide variety of spellings exist for the English usage of the term, e.g. tshotshketshatshke,tchachkechachketsotchkechotski, or chochke, because there is no standardized transliteration.
