Hi Terry & thanks for the posting & photos! Nice looking Ivory carved jewelry you have there! I think it was probably made in early Showa period or a bit later, but without seeing the back & signature I can`t say for sure! They could also be Chinese made too, as a lot of stuff comes from there these days! Can you post photos of the signature when you have time & I will as my Japanese wife to take a look. She can spot Chinese characters from Japanese characters real quick! Cheers! Swims

Hey Swims and All...Fancy bumping into you here... My father in law was stationed in Japan for two tours as stenographer and chauffeur to Gen. George Marshall during the Korean War (my spouse, soon to be 60), was there with his parents at ages 4 and 8. Due to this, we have a rather large assemblage of Japanese Antiques, or at the very least, Collectibles. I know almost NOTHING about them. I do love their gorgous colors and meticulous attention to detail...Here's a couple of photos of some of the jewelry that I prize...

This piece is pre-ban elephant tusk ivory & signed, obviously Japanese script

This is a lovely little cherry pendant, also pre-ban ivory with a sterling pendant mount. I have a "parure" (earrings, pendant and brooch) in it's original "pre-ban" alligator skin covered wooden presentation box, along with an info card from the manufacturer (whose name I can't recall right now) indicating it is elephant tusk ivory. These are just the neatest pieces to look at and wear (carefully). I have no idea if they have any value or antique "validity." I just keep them around because they remind me of my husband's parents and they are So Dear 2 My Heart. Hopefully in the near future, I can begin uploading pix of some of the porcelain...Amazing Stuff!
Cheers everyone!
Terri
