When Japanese items were not made for export, they may not be marked Made In Japan. This salad bowl set was purchased in Japan in the 1950's, and later bought by me at an estate sale. I have another set I purchased online, that has the Made In Japan stamp on the bottom.
Please list your unmarked Japanese items below!
after living in Japan six years, I can also tell you that sets made NOT for export are sold with service for five, never four or six as they are considered unlucky. When you buy dishes at a shop they are usually by the piece, not sold as a complete set. The Japanese table setting is a mix of dishes that may compliment each other, but don't match.
