When I post a new discussion on my groups, I always send a message to all members telling them what the new topic is, and asking for their participation.  I get some results but would sure like a lot more.  It would really be nice if there was a view counter in the groups so the moderators could at least check to see how many people have actually visited.  I know there are probably a lot who read what is added but don't add anything themselves.  Also I try to remember to twitter about it and stir up some interest outside the group (this wouldn't work for the moderator group, but might help with other groups where anyone can join). If you select in your settings to be notified by email, you can receive an email any time there is something added to your groups.

Any suggestions for getting more people to participate?

I try to post something new every couple days, not much action so far

I check mine a few times a day.  It is a bit discouraging.  Not enough people participate in the discussions.  Many times I post information that I think it interesting and there is hardly ever a comment on either of the groups I moderate.  I'm never sure if people are even looking at them and I am becoming less motivated to post anything.  I know what you mean.

I have a question for all of you...How often do you check your group(s) to see if there are new Discussions or Comments that need to be answered?

I try to check every day myself, even if I don't actually log into the site.

I know that both recently, and in the past, I have posted either a comment or a discussion in a group, and not had it answered. There were even times when after waiting a day or so for an answer in the group, I also decided to cross post it into the Discussion area of Whadja Find? as well, and had it gone unanswered there as well.

So I am curious...How often do you check your groups page(s)?With Whatdja Find? is it basically a rule that once it falls out of sight in the Discussions, no one bothers to go back and look? Should I repost it once it falls out of sight?

I am asking all Group Moderators and Co Moderators to help me encourage all members to have an avatar (photo icon). We have learned that having an distinct icon makes the site  look better on the Main Page and also helps us  distinguish members who are here for antiques and collectibles from those who are here to spam.

If someone is in your group without an avatar, can you politely send them a note asking them to add one. They can
more about  avatars in the Help Desk under photos or link them.

I will reward the moderator of the group that has the most members with icons. Deadline March 6th  Midnight EST

Thanks Dianne
