Unknown...here is some information on the Longest Yard Sale
If anyone has attended it...share your experiences......Diane

http://www.127sale.com/
From their website........
"Welcome to the World's Longest Yard sale, also known as the 127 Corridor Sale...
654 Miles
From West Unity, Ohio to Gadsden, Alabama!

Plan ahead for 2009: August 6-9, 2009

Countdown to the 2009 Sale:

210 Days, 03 Hours, 50 Minutes, 23 Seconds.

Hundreds of thousands of folks join us each year for this fun-filled event, spanning 630 miles and five states. It's impossible to keep track of how many shoppers and vendors we have, but it's grown to be the biggest and best event of its kind in the world. You'll find homeowners selling stuff they've accumulated throughout the years as well as professional dealers and vendors. It's almost impossible for shoppers to cover the entire route in four days, so be prepared to pick up where you leave off next year! You're going to discover some neat places, interesting people, and quaint stops that you'll probably want to visit again and again. So pack your camera, sunglasses, a good pair of walking shoes, and plenty of cash- you're in for the World's Longest Yardsale!

Nestled in the beautiful Upper Cumberland Region of Tennessee, Fentress County is also home to Big South Fork National River & Recreation Area, Sgt. Alvin C. York State Historical Site, and Pickett State Park. We're also known to the equestrian community as the Trail Riding Capital of the Southeast!

For those of you wishing to travel to Jamestown, home of the 127 sale, please check out www.bigsouthfork.org for more information.

The Sale is headquartered in Jamestown, Tennessee at the Fentress County Chamber of Commerce. Stop by the Chamber office in Ye Ole Jail next to the Courthouse in downtown Jamestown to purchase your official 127 Sale T-Shirts"

Long Island has a couple, but the best treasure hunting is to be had by trailing around to tag, estage and garage sales. We've also got about 5 regular auctions on a monthly basis.

My big goal is to one day go down south and do The Endless Yard Sale. I have seen a few shows about it. It's a yearly event that runs through 4 states toward the end of August along one of the highways. I think that if you go to hgtv.com you can find info out. I have read about this event on the internet. I think that I've seen 3 different shows about this.

It looks like a treasure hunting dream come true.

The main flea market here is at a local train station in the town of Bellmore. I've found some nice things. The one in Bellmore is geared toward vintage, but I think that if you pay your fee, you can set up. There is some new and some crafted. The really big flea markets haven't been around Long Island for quit awhile.

Swims likes the Antique flea markets here in Tokyo! I sometimes go to the one at Togo Shrine near Harajuku on the first Sunday of the month, if weather is good, as they have lots of neat old items. Lately though it is harder to find good deals, as the dealers have raised prices on a lot of the items that Swims collects! Still fun to go & browse & I do pick up stuff now & then. Lots of other locations for antique fleas on Sundays too & four times a year there is a super antique flea market at Heiwajima station, about 45 minutes from my house, with about 350 dealers from all over Japan. They have everything from European antique jewelry & watches to antique toys & collectibles from Japan & other asian countries! I have picked up a lot of items at these venues! Cheers! Swims

I am so glad you added this group! I love flea markets. I sold a flea markets for decades and now I attend them only as a buyer for my other selling pursuits ( my antique mall shop and online auctions). I am what I like to call an 'urban beachcomber' looking for things that I can re-purpose as they like to call it now. We don't have too many flea markets in the St. Louis, Missouri area any more (where I live) but the Wentzville flea market is still a really good market when the weather permits! I thinks that the down-turn in the economy will only make the flea markets better for buyers and sellers!
