Lillian,  Sandwiches, drink & chips.  Keep it simple.

Lillian, When I  sell at flea markets/ trrade days, I have my cooler with sodas, water, snacks, and lunchables.  Everything is with me in my booth or spot.  Perhaps this will help you.

Does anyone have any tips on how to handle meals when doing an estate sale? I am at my house, so I have access to fridge & stove, but last year I burnt up a batch of tater tots when I got busy with customers. I only remembered them when the smoke alarm went off. After that, I vowed not to have meals that require time consuming or time critical preparation since I am alone. Beverages are not a problem. I always keep a goodly amount of soft drinks on hand when I am having a sale. It's the solid food. I'm looking for things that can be eaten out-of-hand with little or no fuss.

Lillian in this case I like to use the word RE-Purpose.

I take items like this and find a new use for them . Last year I had two bowls I built a little combo food and water dish for small animals out of them . Some items that were damaged i simply painted and made look different . Some Items I just put in box lots and sell for one very cheap price . I like my $5 & $10 Box Sales . Pots Pans and dishes just fly out of the place.

I am in the "Twilight Zone" of merchandise - it's too old to be new and too new to be antique; too fancy to be utile and too plain to be artsy. I have a large Bennington Pottery bowl ($10), when I see people pick it up and look at it, I point out that it's Bennington. They usually respond that "It's too plain."

Lillian you do not have to put prices on everything . How ever you can put clothes in a box or hung up on a rack with well marked signs all clothes $5 All Lamps $20 ETC. I call up fedex or go to the USPS and order or pick up boxes to use for like items with the same prices . You can also use dot codes . All red dots $5 all yellow dots $10 ETC.

For clothing just make a sign - With the info listed - rather than pricing everything individually. Shirts - Skirts - $3

                                                   Dresses     -       $5

etc. I agree w/ Charles - you do need prices - at least signs with prices, because otherwise they will walk away, thinking your going to want a lot for stuff. It also unnerves me, when going to flea markets etc. If I see that dealers don't price their wares - I want to know if I can afford, or even make an offer on some things before I ask.

Hopefully, w/ your Aunts things you will do better this year! :)
