Comment by Charles CT QUALITY ANTIQUES 14 hours ago Vicki we all take our knocks for sure .
Well Charles I seem to have found this out the hard way haven't I - lol!
This fellow is really unreasonable though. He tells me one thing to my face, then calls the owner with a completly differnt story. Then won't even talk to me face to face? Seems to be lacking character in the extreme imho - lol
Comment by Charles CT QUALITY ANTIQUES 16 hours ago Mobile Homes have lots of rules and are guided by the off site management company . They are also worried about liability issues
So now i have to park it in a dirt field on the other side of the park! - oh brother!
I've sold one before on the person's property - and I just have one of my workers watch over while people go in, look around check engine etc. I don't allow them to drive it. Just start it.
Anyway, we do have flyers with info and pics - we will have at our checkout and around town - at the resteurants etc. And we decided to just post one worker with the motor home from 12-3 each day of the sale for viewing - seems to be the only solution.
This manager guy is a real piece of work! Told my client she has to be there the whole time to! Can you believe this? What business is it of his? I went up there and he wouldn't even talk to me (he was in a meeting and couldn't be disturbed) My eye ball! I'll be very glad when this sale is over, and I don't think I'll be taking anymore mobile home sales - ugg!
Comment by Chuck Zee 21 hours ago Vicky, since the motor home would be a large purchase, I would make copies of photos to post at your sale. It would be difficult to show the vehicle during a sale anyway (lots of questions, can we drive it, etc.)
Set up appointments for people to see the motor home after he sale.
Good luck.
UGGGGG! People can be So difficult!
Currently I have a problem. I'm doing an estate sale at a mobile home park - it's a nicer community on the "lake" (they are actually old Gravel pits - but I'm not going to tell them that - lol)
Anyway - I have a motor home to sell and tryed to put it in the driveway - but the carport is too short to accomadate it - The owners pointed out a circular drive with no trailer - unused, that is kitty corner from the house. Well the dang manager got complaints (so he says) and know won't let me park it there - not even for just the operating hours for the sale - I'm going up there now - (40 minutes drive for me too) and going to try and offer to "lease" that space. I'm wondering if I offer to pay to use this vacant space if that would change anything - what do you think? I'd appreciate any advice on this - it's driving me nuts!
Lillian also people might think your going to raise the price of an item once they tell you that is what they are looking for. I have had the same couple come back to my booth 4 or 5 times in 1 day at a show asking the price of a particular item, and get the same price each time.

Comment by Charles CT QUALITY ANTIQUES yesterday Lillian , This is the world we live in today . You have to answer questions with questions. most times people come in to just browse and buy something they like . others are collectors and dealers. Dealers and collectors are looking for that so called find like a Turner Painting for $20. or a Tiffany lamp for $5. but if you ask and they say well I am looking for a specific item then you find out by the answer if they are dealers or just looking for items for a home.
I had a young couple stop and they asked if I had any dishes with flowers on them. Well, almost all the dishes I have are decorated with a floral pattern. After draging out set after set of dishes, they would comment, "Weeellll, they're nice, but not what we're looking for." Finally I asked the point blank if they could be more specific about what they wanted. They then said the dishes have to be marked "Spode". Now if they had just been upfront about it, they could have saved themselves a lot of time and me a lot of trouble. This is just an example, it's happened more than a few times that customers start by asking a very general question, but eventually have to get down to asking for a specific thing. Why are some people that go to sales so coy and indirect when asking about a particular item?
here is a link to the first of the years yard sale at the farm this weekend then July 4th weekend, then labor day weekend The barn is full and there is 40 hay wagons full of items for sale from a collection of about 20 Estates, many of them had not been picked through by the families
