I am pretty new to the board, and I have been researching items. Eventually I need someone to come in and so a sale or auction of items. One realtor gave me a couple of names and so did another one. I found one of them online and it's http://www.leonards.us/ I wondered if anyone has ever heard of them or used them or gone to one of their auctions. It's close to my Dad's home, but I am in IL and it's hard to know what to ask.
Any idea what the normal fee for an auctioneer is ? Do you usually get more at an auction or at a tag sale ? Lots of sporting equipment at Dads and so many things I do not even know yet. So much sorting to do ! Fishing, hunting and all items to go with them. Crafts and tools and who knows what !
Thanks for input
Hi Ginger - Vicki again! So you are in my state of MI! I replied to your post on your desk.
I am Great Lakes Estate Services, and I personally Know Richard Leonard. He's a good guy. I have both bought and sold at his auctions. He does pretty well with both furniture and hunting/fishing equipment.
So, if your goal is to just "get this over with quickly" He would be fine. The normal fees for Auctioneer services are usually around 25% plus they will charge a "pick up" fee, as well. They will require you to read and sign their contract so you understand what all fees/services include. So no worries there. Once all items are sold, a check will be sent to you, or depending on how much you have, he might send you a couple checks over time.
Ottawa Lake is just over 2 hours from me, or I would try to help you determine if it would be better to have an estate sale, vs auction. I am a Certified Appraiser/Estate Liquidator, Bonded and insured. I've got over 15 years in this biz, so I'm pretty qualified to "sort things out" LOL
If there is anything else I can help you with, send my a message here on iao.
Your wonderful ! Good to know Richard is reliable !
