This blanket chest looks hand-crafted. The interior is in remarkable shape for its age, the exterior near the bottom has some water damage to the finish, but the wood isn't warped. It has a locking top lid and the key is available. Last year I asked $150 for it with no interest in it. I've since reduced the price to $100 and still no "nibbles". What kind of wood does it look like? Is $100 a reasonable price?

Some of the "hardware"

just seen this web site on another forum face book  http://www.coppescommons.com/ the Nappannee kitchen cabinet company has a museum there as well as some of there original catalogs on line to look at 1894-1927 shows some of the other items they made as well as a great time line to show what was available in that year.

they started out looks like making tables not cabinets

1930s American mahog Renn. revival type with burled veneers on flat parts. Probably made in Brooklyn.

Hey, everyone I joined the group today because I am an avid collector of turn of the century quartered oak, household furniture. Over the years I have learned how to repair and hide even the most botched up repairs on pieces I found after they were (seemingly) ruined. Love to help if I can for fixing or repairing solid wood pieces needing attention. Thanks

Can anyone give me info on this table and chairs? Age?

Comment by House of Charm Antiques Southinc on October 10, 2014 at 9:17pm

From what I see, it's 100-125 y.o. American spindle back chairs. Too well turned and cuts and angles are likely machine made.

And two more - sorry - LOL

Both of these show the slight damage on the underside:

Any info you can share is most appreciated. Thank you! :)
