Large Old Vintage Chinese Asian Wine Storage Jar Jug Urn - Glazed Heavy Pottery - Impressed Mark
Concentric circles decorate the top half of the jar. Rolled rim. The heavy pottery jar has a fully glazed exterior and interior with unglazed base. Interesting glaze that is heavier at the exterior top and becomes a lighter application at the exterior bottom of the jar. Glaze drips and remains of the clay seal around the rim area. Superb display piece.
China or the surrounding regions.
Estimated as early to mid 20th century with exact unknown and it may be older. Purchased from a Seattle antique store in 1980.
Shown. Brewery? Not translated.
See pictures. Very good of type and age. The jar is strong and stable. Irregularities to the potting and glaze are the norm. Two tiny surface only chips, shown. A stable hairline of 4 1/4 inches (shown) on the lower side above the base that shows through to the interior. The jar was originally purchased this way, so it is not going anywhere. Hairline has been further stabilized with a clear epoxy on the inside of the jar. It is actually hard to find, but I forced the camera to get up close and personal.
24 inches tall. Mouth width touch under 9 inches. Center about 15 inches wide. 13 inches at base.
Estimated 45 pounds.
