I found this charming little woman at a high end thrift store yesterday.  I took some photos of her and would like to know more about these half dolls.  She was priced at $30.  Did I spend too much?

Hi Charlotte, She is very pretty! You did pay retail for her - not a "sale" price. Most of these dolls were made in either Germany or Japan. The dress appears to be "newer" than the doll. The original dolls date from the late 1800's into the early 1900's.

There are a few very good web sites and resourse books on these dolls, Also we have a "Doll Collectors" group here on iantique - you may want to join there and post your pretty gal!
