Hi everyone.. this is my first post to this group.. I recently fell into something that might be of great interest to someone.. I was given a steamer chest. and inside were all the letters written during WWII from a soldier to his girl and back and forth.. I have asked the family if they wanted this and they declined wanting it. so I have it now.' they follow this man from being a private to a corporal.. to a sargent.. . the one letter that the family did want was the one that was asking for his girls hand in marriage at the end.. apparently this was the gentelmans grandfather asking for his grandmothers hand in marriage . I did manage to photo copy that letter first tho. and will include it with the rest if I decide to sell to somone.. Im really not even sure what to ask for something like this.. any ideas? there must be well over 200 letters from family and friends and his girlfriend. most dated 1941-1943 . would love to have imput back on this. thanks

Hi,
I collect antique diaries (oldest one from 1850), Victorian autograph books, and scrapbooks. I have 36 in my collection and some are quite fragile. What is the best way to care for these and protect them? Some are written in pencil and are fading and I am transcribing some so the thoughts are not lost.
I also plan on starting a blog that shares these wonderful windows into a different time with others. At the moment I have them, depending on size, wrapped in tissue paper or in plastic bags. I also have tons of letters from my Grandmother, great aunts and relatives in Sweden. Of course they are a great source for family genealogy and history and a great majority need to be translated which will be another project unto itself! Again how do I protect letters until I get to this major project?
I would appreciate any advice. Thank you!

I have a few odd bits, and a lot of letters and post cards from right before WWII. Most of the letters are between my parents with some between my mother and grandmother. I haven't gone through all, but I believe there are also a few from my uncle to my parents while he was in the army during WWII. There are supposed to be diaries kept by my father beginning in 1939, but I have only found the ones from 1947 on. Willing to share some parts when I have the time to go through them again. I also have an e-copy of my grandfather's enlistment papers when he joined the Canadian Seaforth Highlanders for WWI.

I have a Website which contains more than 120 letters written by my Grandfather, Kinley Charles Cisney, to his parents when Kinley was in World War 1. the site is www.small-town-big-war.com
