I Antique Online

A Community For People Who Buy, Sell or Collect Antiques, Collectibles and Art

Hello everyone.   I was at a yard sale last week and the gentlman had this case with 2 razors in it, and I remember my dad using one like that.  I know nothing about razors or have ever collected them.   I paid 2.50 for both.   He said that he bought them in a lot in a auction in 1985  that came from the Wallace Idaho museum(a famous old mining town) and hes had them stored since.   I was able to identify the first as a 1979 Gilette Black Beauty by the marks on the razor and found its worth about $50.00   The second is a mystery.  I went home  and did a google search for  Barbasol razors and on the top of the list was an ebay auction of the same exact razor.   The razor sold the very next day for 152.00  and I kinda went wow.   There was no date/ model in the description of the razor just Vintage razor for sale  http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_trksid=p4340....  the one I have has a little more wear and tear.    I have spent hours and have found a few other pics of the razor.  I joined 2 razor sites and asked questions there but have had only 2 responses one gentleman only said its it a beutifull razor and worth 50-150.    But I am still very curious of its age model.   I have been unable to find any marks on the razor other than the Barbasol name around the handle. Does anybody have/know know any info on it or how I date it or the model.  Its very heavy and the handle measures 3 1/2 inches and is 7/16 across.  I want to sell it eventually.   The other thing would it be nickle or chrome plated.    any info would be greatfully appreciated Thank you for your time
