Here’s a tip for very quickly dating an item to determine if it’s at least
somewhat vintage (over 48 years old). This will work on any item that has a manufacturer’s address on it.
Look at the manufacturer’s label and address on the item.
If there’s no Zip Code included, the item is at least 48 years old.
That’s because Zip Codes were instituted by the Postal Service 48 years ago—in 1963. That’s also the time that two letter state designations were started. So any manufacturer’s label that doesn’t have a zip code is very likely to be at least this old.
