Hi, I have this WestClox wind up alarm clock that I purchased at an estate sale.  It work perfectly and keep great time when it is lying flat on it's face or back. When I stand it right side up it works for few minutes then stop ticking.  Why does this happen?  Does it just need a good cleaning or serving to work properly?

This is a balance wheel clock . The balance staff is most likely broken .

Parts for this clock are obsolete and so to repair it a clockmaker would have to have an old movement with parts or have the staff custom made .

Hi Steve, I left it on its face for about an hour then flip it right side up and it kept on sticking through the night.  It stopped this morning but I gave it a wind up and it appears to be working standing up even the alarm.  It strange cause it slowly started to work.  When I found it at a yard sale it was not even working just the alarm worked.
