Seth Thomas, 30 Hour Clock, looking for help, please.

I am new to this group, but am hoping to get some help with this clock. For all I know it may be fake, I know nothing at all about clocks, but for $20 thought I would take a chance on this one. I bought it at a small local auction. It winds and keeps good time. What I am really interested in is when it was made and do I need to do anything to the wood case other than just wipe it down to get the dust off? Thanks in advance for any and all help

You have a Seth Thomas "Round Band" model clock. Based on the style of the dial numerals, I think it probably dates from 1900-1910. There are various ways you could treat the case. The most gentle would be to wipe it with a damp cloth to remove the dust. You could then wax it with paste wax. You could also rub with a product like Howard's Restore-a-Shine to remove grime and smooth the surface, followed by wax. As the case is veneered, be very careful with any rubbing not to catch edges of the veneer on the cloth.

$20 was a good price!
