Hi, I purchase this at a yard sale. Lady said it was her wedding gift and at least 50 yrs old. I put in new C Battery and its been running for a day. My question is should I polish it or leave it as is. What is the best way or product to use? Also inside is fairly clean but I do not know if I should get this service or oiled etc. Do I need to worry about it if it is keeping good time? It hasn't run in a long time before I got it.

The clock has a lacquer coating. To polish the clock it should be taken to pieces , parts polished individually , cleaned and then relacquered.
If the clock is running and keeping time I wouldn't do a thing to it .
