So, Whats its worth?

It is rough but the only thing I did to it was put rust gaurd on the metal parts to stop the rusting..I thing it says 1867 0r 1887. Canvas on wood.

that is the patent on what ever that is marked is I think a  corner

Yes, that's just a patent date. 

i would say this is from around 1890ish.

If ALL the hardware is there and the hinges are in decent condition, an average person may give you 100.00, as is.

Personally, I wouldn't pay more than 50.00, but I refurbish them and sell, so I don't count.

If you refurbish, I'd leave the original owners name intact.

hi kim i think it is a steamer trunk - they do look nice when restored have a look at sight below

i would also leave the name on (its history)
