I Antique Online

A Community For People Who Buy, Sell or Collect Antiques, Collectibles and Art

I've searched the internet high and low for a Popeye doll that looked like the one I have to no avail.  It is missing one of the leather shoes, and a little dusty,,  but I'd like to get some idea of age (time period)  and a possible worth if I could.

What is he made of and is he marked?

it seems cotton underneath with cotton stuffing. The jacket and pants and hat seem to be velvet.

The main difference I see with mine is that the anchors on the arms are/were never there.

I'd say 1920's or 30's. Check kovels.com if he was mass manufactured they should have the info on him, otherwise, he might be homemade from a pattern of some kind.

It's pretty cool, even with the little flaws. :)

thank you Vicki, I will check them out.
